Dr.Kirk Orthodontics

Situated about an hour outside of Ottawa, Kirk Orthodontics is housed in a wood-frame commercial building dating back to the 1940s, with a concrete block addition constructed in the 1950s. DS Studio was commissioned to perform a full retrofit of the existing building into a state-of-the-art orthodontics practice.

As part of the scope of work, a section of the existing building was divided off to provide a tenant suite, while the remainder of the building was utilized by the practice. The renovation included a full reconfiguration of the floor plan and an upgrade of the interior. DS Studio also completed an envelope retrofit to provide increased energy efficiency and to upgrade the clinic’s curb appeal with a cohesive frontage. As the prime consultant, DS Studio coordinated a team comprised of structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers, as well as the interior designer, throughout all phases of the project delivery, including schematic design, design development, permitting, tendering, and construction. A full code review and upgraded fire ratings were included as part of the design.
