JOB POSTING : INTERMEDIATE TECHNOLOGIST

DS Studio Inc, an emerging architecture and interior design practice with offices in Toronto and Ottawa, is seeking a full-time Intermediate Technologist to join our growing team.

At DS Studio, we are passionate about creating inclusive, accessible, and beautiful spaces that push the boundaries of design and technology. As we expand our portfolio, we are looking for a skilled technologist to help us realize our creative vision by preparing permit drawings, construction drawings, and providing support with construction administration.

This is an intermediate position, applicants are requested to have OBC knowledge and experience executing projects in Canada.

  • Prepare permit and construction drawings, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and applicable standards. Support construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings and performing site reviews as required.

    Collaborate with the design team to transform concepts into technical documents.

    Work on a range of projects, with a focus on commercial buildings, including steel, concrete, and mass timber construction.

    Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders as necessary.

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a technologist.

    Expertise in preparing construction documents for commercial projects.

    Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and Canadian construction standards.

    Proficiency in Revit is required, with a working knowledge of AutoCAD for specific projects.

    Experience working on projects involving mass timber is considered an asset.

    Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a remote setting.

    Ability to visit project sites as needed, with preference given to candidates based in Ottawa for site-related tasks.
