The Hut
Toronto-based interior design studio Denizens of Design and Ottawa–Toronto architecture firm DS Studio have joined forces once again on The Hut, a boutique smoothie and juice bar rooted in family, health, and Canadian nostalgia. Located at Yonge and Eglinton, the retail space blends sculptural retail architecture with minimalist, gallery-inspired design to create an experiential retail environment in Toronto.
Working closely with founders Sydney and Ashley Bly, the design team crafted a concept that merges the warmth of a Muskoka cottage with the elegance of urban café culture. DS Studio led the architectural moves — introducing pitched rafter frames, durable material upgrades, and a layout that guides visitors intuitively from entry to counter. Their full-scope design, from structure to finishes, embodies sustainable, material-conscious spatial design.
The space also honours the sisters’ heritage as granddaughters of furniture icon Saul Feldberg, incorporating modular shelving from Global Furniture Group. Together, the firms created a flexible retail-hospitality environment — a café-meets-shop that blends strategy and form, and supports the evolving needs of a growing brand.
With a collaborative design approach and expertise in architecture for brand experience, DS Studio continues to redefine boutique store architecture in Canada.
