City Park Playground

The City of Kelowna, which is currently undergoing numerous infrastructural improvements, has flagged the main city park, with its continuous state of heavy programming and use, as a priority area for improvement.

Identifying the Children’s Playground as an innovative way to celebrate Kelowna’s culture and growth, an inclusive play space was proposed to improve connectivity and create community. The design uses wood as the main material, arranged in free flowing and open shapes that encourage creative play, exploration and activity. Focusing on the cultural significance of the Westbank First Nation community, the playground also incorporates the story of the Four Food Chiefs into its layout and design.
